The Fellowship
Contractual Relationships:
A tripartite agreement
From the day that you accept a place on the Fellowship until
the end of the Industrial Phase each fellow has a contractual
relationship with Cranfield Manufacturing Management Centre
(CMMC).
A bursary is paid to the fellow at the agreed rate throughout
the programme, and the fellow in return complies with the
fellowship regulations.
Once the fellow has been placed, the host company enters
into a contractual agreement with CMMC for the services of
the fellow.
As part of this arrangement a monthly fee is paid to CMMC
for the supported services of the fellow through a 12-month
period. In return for this, the fellow supplies the agreed
services to the host company on a day-to-day basis in accordance
with the rules and regulations of the company, and in line
with the agreed Terms of Reference.
The fellow acts as the agent of CMMC, and because of this
there is NO contractual arrangement between the fellow and
the host company; the fellow is NOT employed by the company.
As there is no direct contractual agreement between the fellow
and the host company the fellow must NOT act in isolation
regarding changes to the Industrial Phase arrangements. All
changes must be discussed and agreed by all parties, e.g.
significant changes to the Terms of Reference, tutoring arrangements,
early termination. If in doubt, speak to your tutor of the
Fellowship Director.
At the end of the Industrial Phase the contractual agreements
with CMMC cease. It is between the fellow and the host company
to determine the nature of any future relationship between
themselves.
